Ingredients
1 lb ground beef *You can also use ground turkey
4 oz bacon, finely chopped (about 4-6 strips) *You can also use turkey bacon
1/4 c barbecue sauce (try to find one with less sugar)
1/2 pineapple, cored & sliced (or buy pre-sliced – I always do this because it’s easier)
Directions
In a large bowl, combine beef, BBQ sauce and bacon. Mix together with your hands, making sure the bacon is evenly distributed–as it has a tendency to clump together.
Heat a grill, grill pan or skillet to medium high heat and while the cooking contraption of your choice is heating up, form the meat mixture into patties. I made six. Sprinkle some salt & pepper on the tops and bottoms of the burgers.
Cook burgers to your liking.
Toss pineapple rings onto the cooking contraption to char up on both sides (just a couple mins/side).
Serve with extra BBQ sauce for drizzling or dipping!
With your burgers, you can take your bundle of asparagus, chop off the ends, drizzle with olive oil, salt & pepper, and either roast in the oven for about 12- 15 minutes at 400 degrees, or steam it – your choice! If you don’t like asparagus, serve with another green veggie or a side salad.
